Although bicycles were initially expensive and a cycle trip was an exclusive venture, from the 1920s on and then during the post-war years, it experienced a strong upswing. After the peak of mass motorization and industrialized mass tourism, cycle trips are now experiencing a new heyday - not as a fad, but as a mega trend with enormous development potential. In the lecture, the factors that determine demand, the potential and requirements of a structural, communication technology, cultural and emotional-psychological nature are discussed, making reference mainly to the countries Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Born in Bressanone, this trained hotel/tourism manager (Kaiserhof Meran) was the marketing and sales manager of various companies and worked as a PR and traffic consultant and organizer of major sporting events. As co-founder of the bicycle expert platform BikePROS and the association alpenRAD|mobil, Markus Lobis organizes specialist congresses on current issues of bicycle mobility planning such as “Cycmobility Innsbruck” and is a member of the working group for the management of the cycle route Munich-Venice.
