The initiative "flottes Gewerbe" aims at promoting the commercial use of cargo bikes in Frankfurt am Main, thereby making logistics more city-compatible and environmentally friendly. After the successful application process the selected companies now have the opportunity to try out cargo bikes that meet their individual requirements.

In contrast to private use, the possible uses for commercial cargo bikes are less well known. Yet, there are now a large number of commercial cargo bike models, even with additional loads of over 350 kilograms. The fields of application in the commercial sector are correspondingly diverse: whether for service providers such as chimney sweeps, window cleaners and carpenters, or for transporting materials - cargo bikes have the potential to replace numerous commercial car or van trips, especially over short distances. This also contributes to climate protection and can be a factor in relieving the parking situation .

For businesses and companies, it is not always easy to find the right cargo bike for their own requirements, to test it without obligation and also to obtain quickly available and reliable service and maintenance offers for the vehicles. This is where the "flottes Gewerbe" program comes in. Following the successful completion of the application phase, the so-called "test pioneers" now have the opportunity to receive sound advice and then test a cargo bike that meets their individual requirements free of charge for a test period of four to six weeks.
From the applications received, eight test pioneers will be selected. Care will be taken in the selection process to ensure that the test pioneers reflect as wide a range of industries and applications as possible.

The test phase will begin in early June with a kick-off event in Frankfurt am Main. An extensive test fleet will also be made available for on-site testing as part of EUROBIKE, which will take place in Frankfurt am Main from June 21 to June 25, 2023.

Further information about the test pionieers can be found here in June.

The idea behind "flotte Gewerbe" is to promote commercial cargo bikes and trailers and their diverse applications and to offer entrepreneurs from various industries the opportunity to personally convince themselves of the individual application possibilities.
