Day 1 Sorrento
Explore the museums, churches, narrow alleyways and stairways of Sorrento before meeting for a wonderful welcome dinner.
Climate in Amalfi region
Day 2 Sorrento
We travel a short distance to start our walk from Termini. Walk down to Punta Campanella, a national park that protects bothland & sea. It is the most western point on the Gulf of Naples. Here, it is said, Capri separated from the mainland. We descend to enjoy a delightful lunch overlooking the sea. Walk back to the top of the cliffs of this wild and natural landscape using well-trodden mule tracks. Finally, we transfer back to our beautiful hotel in Sorrento for a savory dinning experience.
Day 3 Positano
We ferry to romantic Capri to explore this enchanting isle's lush countryside, quaint towns and awe-inspiring caverns. Returning to the harbor, we enjoy lunch on a terrace with breathtaking sea views, before taking a beautiful journey by boat to our next destination, Positano.
Day 4 Positano
We take a one hour drive to the top of the heights above magical Positano where we walk in the mountains, taking in unsurpassed views of the Amalfi Coast and the Monti Lattari, an inland mountain range of soaring spires and ridges. The walk involves descending 3,000 mountain steps! We arrive at Montepertuso for lunch and continue our mountain walk in the afternoon.
Days 5 Ravello
Descending Positano's ancient stairways, we pause often to savour the breathtaking coastal vistas before taking the ferry to Amalfi, once a way-station for crusaders and, in Renaissance times, Italy's largest republic. Today, it's one of the Mediterranean's prettiest and most popular resorts with a lovely harbour, a beach of volcanic sand and a promenade with breathtaking sea views. We visit the old paper factory and walk up to Pontone through the Valle dei Mulini (Valley of the Mills) alongside a sparkling stream. After lunch we hike onward to Ravello, said to have the Amalfi Coast's best views, for dinner.
Day 6 Ravello
We walk from the hotel to admire the view from the Monastero di S. Nicola in Capodimonte and then descend to lunch in Minori. Nearby is a Roman villa, a reminder that this Amalfi Coast has been an attractive holiday destination for 2,000 years. After returning to Ravello, we explore the Villa Cimbrone and its gardens, so admired by D.H. Lawrence and Greta Garbo among others, before our farewell dinner.
Day 7
We visit ancient Pompeii, frozen in time from that day in 79 a.d. when Mount Vesuvius erupted and destroyed the city, and return to Naples Rail Station.
